Hi friends! Temler here. I’m excited to share some thoughts on the third installment of my story, The Bristolon Chronicles, Friends, and Fiends.
In the journey of life, having genuine friends by your side can be incredibly rewarding. In her upcoming book, Friends and Fiends– Kelly Kast, the author, shows how you can entrust someone and get to know whether they are your friends or friends. The book features me, Temler, and my friends, on a mission to help with a scientific study. Unfortunately, and in many ways, fortunately, we find ourselves once again entangled in a high-stakes adventure. Together with my friends, we will overcome adversity and remind all, that quality friendships are built on trust, respect, and mutual support.
I’m excited to talk to you today about friendship. Friendship is a fundamental aspect of human, and Bristolon, life. Friendship contributes to our happiness and well-being. Sadly, some who claim to be our friends, are not friends at all! It’s essential to distinguish between genuine friends and those who may not have our best interests at heart. So, I want to share some tips I’ve learned about friendship, from both my human and Bristolon friends.
Be positive! My friends are full of ideas and opinions. I agree with some of their thoughts and ideas, but not all of them. I know my friends are truly my friends when I disagree with them, but they are still willing to hear me out. I can poke fun a little fun at their thoughts, and they can poke fun a little fun at mine. In other words, we can genuinely express ourselves but still be respectful of our wonderful differences. That is a tried and true friendship.
Respect in friendship goes both ways. This may be an old-fashioned saying, but it’s so true! Until I met my wonderful human friends, I assumed all humans were exactly the same. I quickly learned while there are some humans who will always be intent on using us Bristolons for personal gain, there are also many humans who simply want to be our friends and help us whenever, and however, they can. I can tell you as a Bristolon, I have learned healthy relationships involve give and take, honesty, and a genuine desire to understand what motivates others, both Bristolons and humans!
Bristolons are taught from the moment we sprout to trust our instincts. Instincts are a powerful tool in helping us understand relationships with other living beings. Healthy relationships require us to contribute to our connections with sincerity and understanding of one another’s life experiences, which may also be the root of our differences.
True friends are reliable and consistent. They show up when they say they will, and you can count on them in both good times and bad. While differences can enrich friendships, a solid foundation of friendship often lies in shared values and interests. For example, my human friends did not understand the deep sense of love we Bristolons have for our natural environment until it became a matter of life and death for my best friend, Sophera.
While differences can enrich friendships, the true, solid foundation of friendship, lies in shared values and interests. Friends support each other’s passions and are genuinely interested in what matters most to their friends.
Join me, and my human and Bristolon friends, in book three of The Bristolon Chronicles: Friends and Fiends. I look forward to sharing our adventures with you.
